How My Sessions Work

Most families stress about posing or getting the kids to cooperate — that’s where I step in. Expect:

  • Guided posing and coaching for natural, flattering portraits

  • Plenty of fun, playful prompts and dad jokes to bring out genuine smiles

  • Stress-free experience from start to finish

After the session, I carefully edit and retouch your images, then deliver them in a private online gallery. You’ll choose your favorites to download digitally or order as printed artwork.

Locations & Outfit Guidance

Montgomery County has so many beautiful parks for portraits — from the open fields and wooded trails at Black Hills Park to the gardens and seasonal colors at Brookside Gardens. Prefer a location with personal meaning? I’m happy to photograph your family wherever it’s special to you.

I also help with outfit coordination — no need to match exactly. Think colors and textures that complement each other, soft pastels, neutrals, or seasonally inspired tones.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Sessions are typically 45-50 minutes. Best to plan for 1-1.5 hours though to make time for cranky kids (or husbands).

  • I would bring makeup for touching up, anything for the kids to keep them smiling. Snacks and bribes for the little ones are great too!

  • Coordinated colors are best. You don’t need to match, but do coordinate. Creams, pastels, solid colors are great choices.

  • I have a few local spots that are beautiful. If you have spots that are family favorites or have an important place in your families story, I’m happy to photograph there. Keep in mind that most of DC is national park land and will require permits, no problem, but it does take some time to apply and get the permit.

  • Most of my clients are shy or anxious in front of a camera. I guide everyone through the process so there’s guesswork, and I’m not above sounding like a total dork to get kids to laugh.

  • Of course! Pets are just an important as anyone else to the family. If you want to bring the dog, or cat (that would be a first), I’m all for it.
