Family Portraits at Black Hills Regional Park, Clarksburg, Maryland Family and Newborn Photography

One of our favorite local spots for family portraits is Black Hills Regional Park in Germantown, Maryland. It offers so much variety in backdrops from woods, grassy fields to a huge lake. And when the kids get antsy and won't smile, give em a short break on one of the many playgrounds.

Our neighbors wanted fall colors and variety for the recent family session. The park is about 5 minutes down the road from us so we caravanned down and photographed their portraits in two different spots. The kids had plenty of space to run around and chase each other while we photographed the parents but couldn't go far enough that we needed a search party to bring them back for the next group portrait.

One of the things we love so much about Black Hills is the variety of backdrops. We can shoot just feet away from the lake, or tuck ourselves back into the woods. If you're up for an adventure, we could rent a boat and get some super romantic couples portraits out in the middle of the lake. We also love that there are play grounds near by so when the kids get restless you can send em off the play area for a few minutes.
