Black Hills Regional Park Maternity Session Clarksburg Portrait Photographers

Pregnant woman in park wearing purple gown and flower crown — Black Hills Regional Park in Germantown, Maryland is one of our favorite places to shoot outdoor maternity sessions. There are so many different views that offer a wide variety of backdrops. From the more romantic sun kissed trees in the woods to a wide open field around the lake, there is something there for everyone.

For this maternity shoot with Sandra, we we couldn't pass up how the sun was creeping through the leaves in the woods. We took a small trail into the woods where there aren’t a lot of people hiking or riding bikes, then moved onto the open area that surrounds the lake. If you plan your shoots for a cloudy day you can get some killer sunsets here too.

Throughout the session we had some opportunities to photograph Sandra’s daughter and her husband to create a more family oriented portrait capturing everyone’s anticipation of the new family addition.

This is such a great park to photograph your family, maternity or engagement session in, as the trees make such a beautiful filter for the sunlight.

We really like shooting light, airy pastel colors so being in the woods with sun a little higher made this super easy. For those that are super adventurous, you can rent a small boat and go out anywhere on the lake, although maybe that’s not such a good idea when you're 8 months pregnant.

Future shoot for sure. We want our clients to feel safe and comfortable, so when we talked about outfits, we decided a more secluded area away from the main park was great choice.
